We went to the treetop walkway in Bad Wildbad on the northern edge of the Black Forest in Germany. While the walk way is wonderful – walking at eye level with really high trees – the fascination comes at the end when you see tower. It looks like a twisted tube. You walk spiralling upwards until you are 40m above the top of the hill giving your an unrivalled 360° view. You are standing high above a sea of dark trees.

And then a quick look into the innards of the tower:

When we were there the weather wasn’t great. Which meant: less people. It also meant: the slide was closed. We need to go back if only for the slide.
However, I found out that there are five other similar treetop walks with almost identical towers. three in Germany, one in the Czech Republic, and one in France in the Vosges (not so far away). I’m already making plans!

I’ve got photos looking down. I’ll share them soon. We also went over a hanging bridge, looking down on 30m tall firs is amazing.

I don’t like heights, but I think it is really the looking down that I don’t like. Oh, yes–do share the looking down photos. 😏😉

That is wonderful. Pity about the slide though

All the more reason to return. I also saw pictures of the tower in snow at night lit up – they do that during winter. It’s about a two hour drive in bad (but not awful) weather. Although, the slide is closed in snow conditions.

I think they would close in winter. Imagine how many people would stick inside the tube lol

Thanks. It’s a fascinating place. The walk way and tower is even wheelchair/pram accessible.
