What Are They Watching?

Anytime, if the weather is halfway decent there is a crowd standing on this bridge, particularly during lunchtime. The bridge is in the centre of Munich, over a part of the Isar, the river flowing through Munich.

Here is what they are looking at:

The Eisbach, that’s the name for this branch of the Isar, has a step in its course and a permanent wave is formed. A few decades ago, I think it was in the 1980s, wave surfers discovered this unique wave and from then on there was a free show, mostly around lunchtime, when courageous men and women took to the water. An audience is always guaranteed.

PS: I usually pack information in German and English in my tags – but I learned yesterday (the AI told me) that more than 15 tags create problems with the post. I don’t know if that is at the root of my current wp problems but I am restricting my tags for the time being to a minimum. — PPS: It doesn’t work.
