It was my first (and so far last) stay in the UK. We went there for the Rugby World Cup (so it was my husband’s holiday, really). In Sunderland we stayed with a friend who lived in a flat right on Roker beach with a direct view to the lighthouse. We went to games in Birmingham and Newcastle and ended our stay with a day in Edinburgh (not enough!). It was October and we had one (okay, one and a half) rainy day and eight days of glorious sunshine.
