I’ve just come back from the Middle Rhine wine region (between Bingen and Koblenz), part of which is a UNESCO heritage site. It is quite breathtaking to see the steep slope vineyards on either side. Getting up the steps between the different vineyards must be even more breathtaking, literally.

There are similarly steep vine slopes near Würtzburg. They made me quite dizzy! And no, I hadn’t been over-indulging.

Who? Graacher Himmelreich is Riesling

It seems that “Graacher Himmelreich” is a “Weinlage”, a clearly defined area where different cultivars are grown. I happen to know the Spätburgunder and the Pinot Noir.

A Dornfelder can be quite drinkable!

Dornfelder is a kind of grape. It’s been used for a lot of cheap wine but there are a few good ones as well.
