    1. Thanks. No I don’t mind. I make a lot more typos than I used to. But here I don’t get it, it’s agenitive-s, isn’t it? The problem of one specie. Or am I missing something?

      1. Actually, you are right. But it’s become one of those words that modern usage has all-but obliterated. You stick to your guns: I haven’t seem specie written outside a specialised text book for years, but it’s the text books – and you – which are correct. It’s been the case before that non-native speakers are more correct than those who were born here!

      2. I think it looks weird because it’s one of those rare words in English ending with -ie. Add a hyphen to that and the brain starts knotting. I was unsure about it when I typed it.
