
I quite like this photo even though it’s skew.

So at first I straightened boat, losing the first oar and losing some of the photos appeal to me.

Then I gave it the water colour treatment making the photo crisp and grainy.

I prefer the oil painting treatment because of the fluidity which kind of fits the water.

I like the last one, it has the most feeling of motion. I don’t normally like to use fill type algorithms but this is one where I might have made the picture a bit longer using one so I could straighten it without losing the oar. It’s hard to photograph those fast moving boats.

I did get other shots of the boat with all the oars and straight so I didn’t bother with finding a straightening solution (but a good tip for some other time). Somehow the skew angle appealed to me – which I only realised fully once I had straightened the pic. Go figure!

The tilt does give it a dynamic feel, and it leads the eye.
