Bergen-Enkheim is a part of Frankfurt which looks as if it exists in another time. It looks like a village with little crooked lanes, old one-storey houses, some renovated, some in dire need of some paint and mortar. I’m afraid with the surrounding city, the modern banking centre of Europe, its high rises and business districts, gentrification is not too far away.

I don’t know if I would like to live in these houses, most likely not, but just are always SO photogenic!

Same here. Although I’ve been to a few which are really well renovated, inside and out.

Maybe it will become a historic preservation district and turn into fine and lively place.

It probably already is. But … that still drives out the old inhabitants because it becomes too expensive for them.
