Pratchett on Nature

DEATH speaking on the repetitious nature of nature in Mort:

“It’s beautiful,” said Mort softly. “What is it?”
THE SUN IS UNDER THE DISC, said Death.
“Is it like this every night?”
EVERY NIGHT, said Death. NATURE’S LIKE THAT.

Lord Vetinari, the Patrician of Ankh-Morpork,speaking on the evil of nature in Unseen Academicals

“And that’s when I first learned about evil. It is built in to the very nature of the universe. Every world spins in pain.”

The Librarian (who happens to be an orang-utan) on Nature and books and libraries in Men at Arms:

“He liked people who loved and respected books, and the best way to do that, in the Librarian’s opinion, was to leave them on the shelves where Nature intended them to be.”

    1. Why not listen to one? The version with Jon Culshaw (narrator), Peter Serafinowicz (DEATH), and Bill Nighy (footnotes – which is a real job where Prachett’s writings are concerned) is unabridged and very enjoyable.

      1. My husband has it on, the music is usually NOT to my taste, so I pop in headphones. My new ones are so comfortable that I’ve been known to walk around with them for hours, not listening to anything and not noticing.
