Two weeks ago there were torrential rains in parts of Germany. The Saarland, the state bordering France at the southwestern corner of Germany had quite bad flooding with considerable damage. We had heavy rains but nothing as bad. Even so, the fields in the plain were flooded and parts almost looked like rice paddies.

If it drains OK, will the crops be saved?

I’m sure they’ll be fine. And our groundwater needed replenishing.

It stopped in between. But at least the flooded area is not as badly affected at the moment I think. But I just read that they cancelled (or possibly just moved) the annual fireworks illuminating Heidelberg castle due to highwater of the river Neckar.
