#31 Anoia

I’ve dealt with Greek Gods and Goddesses in some May squares. But this series of squares is about moving forward and renewing, and embracing new things. So I want to introduce the one Goddess I worship. She is a minor Goddess found on Discworld, the world created by Terry Pratchett.

Anoia is the Goddess of Things That Get Stuck in Drawers, When someone rattles a drawer and cries “How can it close on the damned thing but not open with it? Who bought this? Do we ever use it?”, it is as praise unto Anoia. Faithful Anoians purposefully rattle their drawers and complain every day. I am a devout Anoian and I shout “Anoia!” at least once a day because she also helps to find objects that roll under other objects, things stuck in sofa cushions, and she is considered to handle stuck zippers. She is said to eat corkscrews but I personally believe that she is more into baby’s dummies, byros, and scissors. I’m renewing my faith in her daily and I urge anyone to do the same.
