A Walk Around the Lake

No lake pics, though.

I went with the current three men in my life, three generations on foot.

We were a few days late for the full glory of the daffodils but they still looked splendid.

The predominant floral colour was yellow whether daffodils

or dandelion – including the first little ant inspecting the new crop.

The still barren trees show the many balls of mistletoes infesting them in the area.

Those are not the only blobs in the trees, though. There are many nests of storks – the more discerning storks prefer a more open architecture.

You’ve seen nisting boxes for birds but there are different tenants in these condominiums.

At the end of our loop we came to the playground which was busy. And a couple of steps on there was a different less permanent playground.

The walk around the lake – about three and a half kilometre – is just the correct distance for a dud knee, a desinterested teenager, a photographer who drags, and the middle one who couldn’t get out of it.

  1. You found the perfect outing for the family – well done! Love the stork – we had one building a nest too close to the railroad – so unfortunately they had to move it…

      1. I think they are all here except some serious stragglers. There are way more than 20, it’s just those I saw without really searching for them. And they are not out in the field (it’s very dry in any case and storks like a bit of weg), just sitting on their nests.

  2. A walk to the lake and no pics of the lake 😛. Nice scenes with bright daffodils and the stork, Elke. About the misletoe – just yesterday when I was in the train for my outing, I was kind of shocked to see so many trees in one place full of misletoe balls. Really felt like attack of the aliens 😂.
