I wanted to use “bembel” as a local vernacular expression and then I realised I’ve explained what a bembel is before, actually in a Ragtag post a little bit over a year ago.
So I had to look again and I came across a very localised name for an object that is known all over the world:




A pine cone or fir cone is known in our neck of the wood (sic!) as a “Husmouk” (or “Husmoug”). If I meet someone anywhere who knows this word, I know they are from my hometown or very close by. They even made it to be the mascot of a carnival club:
