I would have never thought that rassism would have such an enormous come back. More than 20% of the German parliament are members of a party which now has been officially declared to be “a confirmed rightwing extremist force” by an analytical examination of the German “Federal Office for the Protection of the Consitution”, i.e. the German internal intelligence organisation, with racism one of the major foundation of their ideology. This organisation, it needs to be said, is not free from accusations of leaning far to the right. And Trump, Musk, and de Rubio are officially criticising Germany for even ordering and then publishing the report.

I am deeply saddened about this. For the last six month or so I’ve more or less blocked off from listening and reading national and international news because I find it so depressing. But I realise that this is an attitude I’ll now have to shake. Now is the time to resist.

  1. You may have heard that our very recent local elections have produced equally depressing results. I belong to several organisations that have Resistance at their core. But is it enough?

      2. True. I apologise to Kermit and friends. (Just as an explanation not an excuse: The Breitmaulfrosch (wide-mouthed frog) has for years been a joke personality here, with little connection to the actual animal.)
