The H at the end of a German license play stands for “historical” – a car has to be at least 30 years old and be in almost original condition or expertly restored. With the H come exemptions from certain environmental conditions and a different tax rate.

Oh! You have shed light on something that Was said to me quite some years ago…. I had an old car with a numberplate that ended in H and a German chap said to me ” UK motors historic” (the first part of the license plate was UKM, hence the guy saying UK motors and then of course the final letter was H) I never knew! Well done, Elke!
