I don’t think it was originally meant to be a police station but the house ended up directly opposite the station so the location was too good to pass up.
So if someone was looking for a police station and google was shouting that “you have arrived”, one would still not find it, if at least one police car wasn’t standing there 😂..

Yes. And at the back there is strong gate and you have to ring and it can take quite a while until someone answers. I found it quite weird.
