Wolves are occasionally spotted once again in Germany. It’s a contentious topic. One side is worried about their lifestock or even about children and people walking in the woods, the other side is rejoicing about the reappearance of a species once extinct in Germany.

I am on the side of a welcome return as long as there is prey for them

There would be (we have too many deer [they harm the trees and need to be fed or they starve and get sick] and too many wild boar [they encroach on villages and even bigger towns, they raid fields and in past years have created havoc in cemetaries] – hence: we have hunts (very German, very controlled and regulated hunts). But: a number of wolves prefer sheep and cattle because they are served on a platter to them. One solution would be better fences but now the farmers and the government are fighting about who’ll pay for them.

I guess so. If you want to have cows or sheep you build the fences to protect them
