      1. It did sound nice, I admit, but I got the name out of a dictionary, and wikipedia also gives “water strider” as the first option after the Latin. There is another German name, which was new to me, Wasserschneider which could translate as either “water cutter” or “water taylor” (neither making much sense to me).

    1. That’s a name I didn’t know but it is so appropriate. The “strider” I got from a dictionary, I only knew the German name which literally translated is “water runner”.
