A bit different to what I normally post for the One-to-Three Challenge.
When I crop photos I usually crop in the same ratio as the original, on occasion I change to a square format or when I mix camera photos and smart phone photos I usually go for a standard 3:5 ratio. This appeals to my traditional side an I also like the discipline of having to adhere to a specific format.
However, this doesn’t suit every subject. Take his oblong (flowery) mural. Here it is in the original format (slightly cropped) including the dirty white paneling on top and the tar below, one side kept intact because of the sprayer’s signature and the compromise on the right side, with part of the garbage and the shed but losing a flower.

This is the closed crop version in the original ratio, again keeping the left side because of the artist’s tag, but loosing the flowers and butterflies on the right, even grazing her locks.

And this is the free cropping, taking the lead toally from the mural itself. Including the untidy structures on the right but cutting off the top and bottom parts. I don’t remember if the mural went on further to the right but I couldn’t include it in the shot because I couldn’t move further back.

What’s your choice?

They all have their merits. I’m opting out of choosing.

I guess I have to accept that. But another No Kiss for Margaret.

I’m not sure. I know I prefer to have the butterflies in the frame. It feels like there is a story in the rather drab area surrounding the vibrant mural.

Thanks for picking a favourite. – I saw it in Duisburg, an area infamous for drab areas.
