Is there a Hobbit in his ancestry? Ragtag Daily Prompt: Hair
“Patriotism is, fundamentally, a conviction that a particular country is the best in the world because you were born in it….”― George Bernard Shaw “Why is it that those who want to destroy everything good about their country are the quickest to waive the national … Continue reading Man Made Artificial Lines
The H at the end of a German license play stands for “historical” – a car has to be at least 30 years old and be in almost original condition or expertly restored. With the H come exemptions from certain environmental conditions and a different … Continue reading Petrol Driven
I didn’t think I would quote the same lyrics of HAIR twice in a week but here we are.
I would just like to say
That it is my conviction
That longer hair and other flamboyant affectations
Of appearance are nothing more

From his drab camouflage
Into the gaudy plumage
Which is the birthright of his sex.

That’s a song that reminisces about the time when there was an Austro-Hungarian Empire and Bohemia was part of that Empire, i.e. before the first world war. This the beer hall “Zum Schwanen” which opened in 1850 in Teplice (in today’s Czech Republic) and today it is called “Monopol” and still attached to a brewery.

In this half timbered house in Ladenburg lived three surgeons (Chirurgius) in the years from 1770 until after 1790. I love the symbol: a scalpel crossed with a forceps. FOWC with Fandango: Surgeon
That’s a house in the town centre of Bad Tölz. Like most houses here it is beautifully maintained. It has a cute little dormer, the windows are set-off by paintings and it has painted and raised stone panels running up the facade. Looking up reveals a painted, maybe even tiled border in the overhang of the roof. The difficulty in photographing a house like this is caused by the narrow streets which makes it difficult to get a shot of of the whole house. Furthermore, being in a group and not being able to really set up a shot results in cut off corners and weird angles. But here it is.
