I’m a Fan of Our Manger

This is our Christmas manger, made from odds and ends. It started out with salt dough figurines which I dressed in meaningful scraps, like a piece of leather from a jacket an aunt gave me, an embossed hair ornament I bought when I was 15 in the South of France, a handkerchief which was a present from a friend, and so on but then there were things added which I found in the souqs of Saudi Arabia. Then the children added animals they found and decorated with shiny bits and pieces.

Colourful Celebrations throughout the Year

Local festivals and traditional celebrations rely on colourful decorations. Easter decorations on a fountain, may tree with colourful strips of paper, more Easter eggs, cow bells for the festive return of livestock from high alpine summer pastures.

Winter Sky
December skies have been mostly grey and overcast if they were visible through fog at all. But when the winds blow away the clouds, a winter sky can be glorious.
