Zu alt, um nur zu spielen. Zu jung, um ohne Wunsch zu sein.

Ride or treat?

Whether you are eager to join this horse’s anticipation of meeting a friend or just anticipating winter – expect some fun.

Considering the next week, I rather hope for the best, yet expect the worst. I’d rather not think of it much.

Cruel to be kind

When Henry was still little and had just moved in with us we couldn’t let him go outside. He sat at the verandah window for hours and kept telling us that he really, really, really wanted to be in the garden.

When I coudn’t take his staring and moaning and begging anymore I decided to buy a harness. Henry wasn’t impressed. Although I bought the smallest size it took him only a couple of minutes to wriggle out of it.

So we kept him inside until he was mature enough (ha!) to be trusted to go outside. We really did it out of kindness but boy! did he accuse us of being cruel.

Kapitelsaal der Wachenburg

This is the chapter house of the Wachenburg in Weinheim, a room where large meetings are held. Normally one finds such halls in church related buildings such as monastries or cathedrals but this chapter house is part of a castle built by an association of fraternities. It is used once a year by the association itself when the fraternity members have their annual meeting, the rest of the year it can be booked for events.

Seasons

“The world is wide.
No two days are alike, nor even two hours, neither were there ever two leaves of a tree alike since the creation of all the world; and the genuine productions of art, like those of nature, are all distinct from each other.”

John Constable

I’ve never yet managed to catch those apple trees in bloom; I’m worried that since they are so ancient that I will never do. So there are only three seasons on display.

A wild goose chase

What started out as an argument (or possibly a bullying incident)

amongst domestic geese

turned into a wild fracas

before settling down again when everyone left.
