On Sunday, Debbie had asked for umbrellas. It’s always good to change ones perspective.

The Elwedritsche are mythical creatures believed to live in the Southwest of Germany. Often described as being birdlike but with antlers and scales instead of feathers, there are really very little bounds to the imagination. In Neustadt an der Weinstraße a whole dissimulation of Elwedritsche can be seen frolicking in the waters of a fountain, getting themselves wet and everybody who cares to stand close to them.
I picked the word dissimulation from a collection of collective nouns for birds. It seemed appropriate.

Walking through the old part of Heppenheim, a turn around a corner can offer a new and surprising perspective.

One more for Aino’s Värikollaasit. You can find more colour collages based on this colour scheme here.

These were the given colours for this week’s Värikollaasit. The butterfly is a common brimstone, or in Latin a Gonepteryx rhamni. In Finnish as well as in German we call it a lemon butterfly. Unfortunately, I didn’t have any lemon pictures or lemons on hand. Maybe I’ll send Mr Eklastic to the stores later today.

Check out Aino’s blog for more collages.

When taking photos in narrow lanes it is often not possible to decide on your perspective. Unless you are going for detail rather than the whole house you can only look up.

Yesterday I was looking up, today I am looking down.
Our group was on a hike and we had a break at the Teufelsfels (devil’s peak) which is crowned by a tower called Langer Heinrich (long Henry). The mayor who was influential in having the tower built in 1985 was called Heinrich Heimfahrt – I wonder why they didn’t use his last name for the tower, it means literally “the drive home”. Which is what we did soon after.
But not before changing the perspective completely and looking out over the Hunsrück, the low mountain range stretching towards Luxembourg.
