Zu alt, um nur zu spielen. Zu jung, um ohne Wunsch zu sein.

Yet, it looks like salt

“Do you know what Picasso said when he looked at my drawings in 1939? ‘You’re crazy, Brassai. You have a gold mine and you spend your time exploiting a salt mine!’ The salt mine was – naturally – photography!

I keep wondering why butcheries and restaurants who have pork on their menues have happy pigs on their signs. Has anyone asked the pigs?  Do the pigs who posed for the pictures feel ashamed that they are selling out?

The one exception is the wild boar, the emblem for a small brewery in Frankonia.  It’s a good beer so no wondering why the pig is happy.

I think Cee was thinking of different signs but here they are.

On and in the water

What is on the water and at the same time in the water? Poles and their reflection, of course.

A single pole will do.

The colour of life

“Green is the prime colour of the world, and that from which its loveliness arises.”
– Pedro Calderon de la Barca

It is said that the favourite colour of the prophet Mohammad was green.  Considering that he lived in a desert country, I can totally relate. How lovely to find green shoots in the sand after a short shower!

However, I wonder if he would approve of the neon coloured trimmings one finds on the outside of many mosques in Saudi Arabia.

The mosque shown here is found in Germany, though, and I admit I tweaked the green tint a bit to make my point.
