One-word-photo-challenge asked for “glue”. This is one of those word association thingys: in Germany, the trademark “Uhu” (= known in English as “eagle owl” or scientifically as “bubo bubo”) has become the generic trademark for glue.

For me, focus is about the subject – as long as my subject is crisp the rest of the photo can happily go blurry (or, if I want to be artsy about it, bokeh) I like it if a contrast in colour adds to this distinction.

The resulting effect can be quite geometrical, lines in the photo above, circles in the one below.

Only one of the two loving couples in the shot below is in focus, but that’s okay since the one to the left is mirroring the main focus.
