These perfectly round holes in the wood are not man-made but are the result of larvae of the wood wasp or horntail biting their way into freedom after years of living inside the tree.
In contrast, this circle is entirely man-made. As are the curvy reflections in the window.

It’s World Heart Day today. I like the German name for these flowers better than the English one. “Bleeding hearts” sounds somewhat derogatory but “Tränende Herzen” sounds better and because the drop is not red also more fitting (tearing hearts, hearts with tears – it’s difficult to translate literally and get a succinct name).

I’ve tried to use the best result in the enlarged photo – but best is very subjective and the choice which photo to choose depends on the context and on what one would like to stress. It was rather late and already dusky and the crane was too far away for my lense. So these photos are not brilliant but I thought the sequence is worth sharing, nevertheless. Whether the supper was a (rather large) mouse or a vole or some other furry creature I don’t know but he swallowed it in one go. And what are you having for supper?

This is only odd to English speakers – a designated hugging place! To Germans, it’s the parking place for a bakery once founded by a baker called Karl-Heinz Hug and his wife Marta. Nevertheless, I never pass this place without checking if there is anybody nearby that wouldn’t mind a hug from me.
