Although the yellow being striking and the defining feature of the water flag or yellow iris, I quite like the monochrome version because the petals stand out and have an almost tactile quality to them.

I came upon several of these ice baubles with the remains of a tea candle in the middle, apparently the leftovers from a street party the night before.

These photos were taken at the Bundesgartenschau in the Havel region in 2015. The BuGa is a biennial federal horticultural show in Germany. It takes place in different cities or regions. The cities take the occasion to improve on their parks and gardens, and besides the flower displays, which are often stunning, to create lasting structures which can be enjoyed for years to come by residents and visitors alike.

Strange little disgruntled bear on the back of a “Trabi” (the iconic car of the German Democratic Republic).
Here is the car in its full splendour:

This is the statue of Pan in the castle gardens of Schwetzingen, Germany. He can be found on top of a grotto not far away from a statue of Apollo with his lyre – so much more elegant (and a lot less fun, I imagine). The title is a quote from the English Wikipedia entry on Pan.
