Even Germans who speak English vell, often get the w sound wrong and pronounce it like a “v”. Especially after drinking some vine. Ve just accept it just as ve tolerate English speakers struggling with “ö” and “ü”. However, the really funny thing is that many Germans who manage the “w” quite well, will overcompensate and call a tankard or glass or stein a “wessel”. Particularly, after drinking some wampire or wanilla cocktails.

Every carnival there was a competition for best disguise. Clara cherished the awards she had received for five years running. The winner was announced during the boogie. It was a draw: Clara had to share with another polar bear. She could have killed it as a waterfall with the tears she cried.

A German wedding tradition: the couple gets some mock work to do (with a few handicaps thrown in, like the bound up hands, and possibly a blindfold, too) and they have to hit the nails on the head. The effort is real enough – will it foretell how well they will work together in their joint future?
