The Mother of the Seven Kids
In the Grimm fairytale of The Wolf and the Seven Kids the mother goat comes back to find six of her seven kids swallowed up by the wolf. The wolf has eaten so much that he has fallen asleep. The mother cuts him open, the kids come out alive and well. They fill up his belly with stones, sew him up again, when he wakes up and is very thirsty he bends over the well and falls over the edge and to his death.
The mother goat needed very sharp scissors to cut through the wolf’s hide. Don’t forget, though, the smallest kid who hid in the grandfather clock was a pretty sharp cookie, too.

Let’s Keep the Keep
Veldenz Castle is in the middle of the town of Nohfelden in the Saarland. We would have liked to climb the stairs to the top of the keep for the view but it was closed for renovations and repairs. The English wikipedia still has photos of the tower without a roof but the cone-type roof was added in 1999 so that wasn’t the reason for the closing. A special company checked for loose stones on the outside of the castle keep.

Stairway to Hell

There is a small way of stairs in our hometown – it’s narrow and steep and it’s called hell stairs or possibly stairway to hell.
Once a year, the stairs can’t be used properly. Because there are transformed into a slide.
