Today the Cat Would Get out by Itself

A really old door. I remember when it wasn’t broken (which makes me old in turn, I guess). And I remember the story that my father had to climb down from window to the floor inside to rescue my grandma’s cat. Because the door was thick and strong and already rusted then and nobody had a key.

This is the whole tower where this is door can be found:

And yes, that is the back garden of my parents’ house.

The tower has been restored last year. I don’t like the smooth surface now but it was possibly the only way to keep it safe. Anyway, the gorgeous view of the other side remains the same:

St Martin Is Drawing Near

The original photo.

The photoshopped versions are all cropped.
A I changed the shot to monochrome but applied selective colouring to the orange of the beak and the area around the eye.
B No change to shot A except the selective colour has been changed from orange to blue.
C The focus around the head of the goose in the centre has been kept but the rest of the photo is taken out of focus.
D I used lunapic.com to change the photo into a picture in the style of Rembrandt.

Plane Spotting

When we drive up to Frankfurt we are on the autobahn A5 which passes directly under the flight corridor of one of the runways of Frankfurt Airport. Since it is a very busy airport we usually see at least one plane either taking off or landing or sometimes being directly under so we have no idea whether we are coming or going let alone whether it is coming or going. If the weather is favourable I have my camera ready and hope for a clean windscreen.

This is not taken from a car but from a small hill about 5 km away from the airport and a bit more than 15 km from the Frankfurt skyline.
