The rule of three is not something that comes naturally to me. I had a hard time going through my old photos and look where editing might help. I’ve come up with two completely different kinds of shot.

I’ve been waiting to use that word!

And while I was remembering Munich yesterday, here is the statue of Bavaria – the lady and her lion who each year (except for this one) overlook the Oktoberfest at the Theresienwiese.

I don’t really have a playlist of favourite songs as such. If I need a pick-me-up I rather go to books or films. Last week I linked one of my favourite TV scenes ever on this blog and I do so again. It is when the eleventh doctor (from Doctor Who if anybody needs this additional information) and Amy Pond take Vincent van Gogh, who thinks his paintings are worthless and just generally questions his talents, to a gallery in his future (our present) featuring his paintings. Bill Nighy is giving a rhapsodic speech about van Gogh’s art and Vincent is overwhelmed listening to it. It moves me every time.

Otherwise, although I sing badly (and having been told so often) I like sing-a-longs with friends, the louder and the bawdier, the better. The latter is the reason why I don’t publicise my playlist.

or possibly, quite crowded:

The Walking Man walks in Munich alongside the Leopoldstraße. I have to add non-square photos of the sculpture by Jonathan Borofsky to do it justice, though.

The photos were taken on the same day but taken from different sides excluding or including the greenery which makes for a completely different perspective.

The Citroën 2CV is known in Germany and Austria as Ente ( = duck). It was built between 1948 and 1988 and if you have ever driven one, you will never forget it. The typical pistol grip stick shift baffles modern drivers even if they are familiar with ordinary manual gearshifts.
On the rear window of this one it says:
Ceci n’est pas une voiture – c’est un art de vivre.
This is not a car – it’s a way of life.
Only one thing left to say:

On Sunday, Debbie had asked for umbrellas. It’s always good to change ones perspective.

The Elwedritsche are mythical creatures believed to live in the Southwest of Germany. Often described as being birdlike but with antlers and scales instead of feathers, there are really very little bounds to the imagination. In Neustadt an der Weinstraße a whole dissimulation of Elwedritsche can be seen frolicking in the waters of a fountain, getting themselves wet and everybody who cares to stand close to them.
I picked the word dissimulation from a collection of collective nouns for birds. It seemed appropriate.
