Lagomorph
I’ve just learned of the English name “lagomorphs” for all kinds of hare-like creatures (taxonomical order of Lagomorpha from the Greek lagos = hare and morphé = form). In German, they are called Hasenartige, i.e. hare-like or hare-kind.
I kind of love the word, in fact, it is my new favourite word.

Weinmond is an old German name for October. Not difficult to spot why.

No rest for the lagomorph
At the end of the day, I spotted this hare sitting laid-back yet with non-laid-back ears in a field near the baulk.
Then something startled it. It turned and fled. Gathering speed it doubled back and
next thing it was running at full pelt leaving me with barely a blurred photo.

A single splendid sun
Although I was looking forward to Becky’s Square Challenge returning in October I am kind of sad to see summer go. Let’s hold on to it a bit longer with photos of the warm and bright season!
This sunflower is a kind of sun – to sustain us, hopefully, through the darker months ahead.
And yes, the title is a reference to that wonderful novel by Khaled Hosseini A Thousand Splendid Suns.
