After having played around with merging photos with famous painting styles, here is a photo of an original of Vincent van Gogh: Les oliviers. The painting is hanging in the National Gallery of Scotland in Edinburgh.

To get away from clogged highways we stopped for lunch and a walk in the small town of Günzburg in northern Bavaria. The old centre of town is crisscrossed with little narrow streets and alleyways. It’s by necessity that one ends up arm in arm!

I didn’t know her but this plaque on a bench overlooking Roker Beach in Sunderland made me smile. What a great way to be remembered – by passing your smile on to complete strangers.
