so the mushrooms are overdue.
I’ve been happy with our Indian summer on a personal level; naked arms and legs and no thick jackets yet. But I am also more than concerned about these temperatures in a wider context. For us in the temperate zones it means a change of the plants and animals that live here but it is manageable. For people living in hotter climes and close to water this moves more and more to life threatening conditions. Which in turn will impact us greatly.
Autumn is the time to pick up your walking staff and hit the trails.
It’s best to check out the weather forecast first and make sure you know in which direction the wind blows.
This advice is particular important for them that travels the air (which they are wont to do more in autumn when the year draws to a close).

Late autumn: the leaves are mostly gone, the climbers are still green (they will stay green for the rest of the year), the sky is a crisp blue and I’m looking up.

Close to our house is this old barn, completely overgrown with wild grape (I’m not really sure about its proper name, we call it “Wilder Wein”). This plant is often used to cover walls but it damages the plaster covering the stones with its suckers. However, the colours in autumn are so magnificent that people put up with it. On this particular date 22-11-22 I found a wine walk particulary fitting (it is also our wedding anniversary).

I know these raised hides are built by, meant for, and maintained by hunters but I wonder – how often do they just sit up there and enjoy their surroundings? Or shoot with a camera?

The weather had looked kind of miserable but by driving to higher ground we broke through the clouds and were in unfiltered sunshine. The colour of the trees are just magical against the blue sky.
Which is not all that surprising considering that the two colours are almost directly opposite on the colour wheel:
