Round and round we go

10 reflection a

Here is a long shot of the lake in Böblingen, where I took this picture, to explain the extraordinary colour, right in the middle:

PS: The title is a word pun crossing German-English lines.  Mallards are called “stock ducks” (Stockenten) in German.

For K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge: reflection.

But for a lonely moorhen

100 different a

This somewhat strange structure is found between the lower and upper lake in the city centre of Böblingen, a town near Stuttgart in Germany.  I say strange because it seems so barren and stark.

The reflections make a great photographic subject.

And getting close one can play with thin columns and shadows and vanishing points.

Here is a fourth, a bonus picture, which I just had to include:

On and in the water

92 water 0

What is on the water and at the same time in the water? Poles and their reflection, of course.

92 water 3

A single pole will do.

Modern arcade

93 vertical

This arcade is on the “upper lake” in Böblingen. The area around two lakes in the middle of town was revamped for the “Landesgartenschau” in the late 1990, a horticultural show.  When a town is chosen to host the show it is usually done in such a way that the areal can be kept and benefit the inhabitants for years to come.  I couldn’t find an explanation for this very tall and very barren – and indeed very vertical – arcade on the lakeside.  It provides shade and makes for very nice reflections, though.

For One Word Sunday: vertical.
