Libri in Transit

It’s interesting to note that “liber” means book and free in Latin, with a slightly different pronunciation. My books are free and move between shelves all the time. Quite different to my parent’s house where we placed a book approximately the same size on the shelf when we took one out to read because my dad was very disconcerted by the empty space.

I Bought the Books – But They Didn’t Sell a Dictionary

I wanted “some light reading” in French for the holidays in France. I enjoyed browsing the library in Bourg-en-Bresse and I particularly enjoyed the personal notes pinned on the books by the staff. I ended up with a book, actually two books, and I managed to do some reading while in France.

When I read in English or German, I just read. When I read in French, I translate in my head. Not quite-so-light.
