I don’t know much about this woman. I know she stands in Bad Kreuznach, Germany. I know her creator doesn’t hold much with textiles. I guess she is made of bronze. But that’s it. I wonder how old she is. I wonder who created her. I wonder who she is or what she represents. But most of all I wonder what the belle she is doing.

Verspannte Teilung, a bronze sculpture in Michelstadt im Odenwald. It’s open to interpretation. If you put a sphere in a vice and misalign the pieces, you end up with a distorted globe.

When I think of bronze I imagine it as a polished, smooth metal but often bronze sculptures are anything but smooth. This statue of the Austrian-Israeli religious philosopher and author Martin Mordechai Buber in Heppenheim an der Bergstraße shows the foliated texture and how this fosters colour.

Birds of two colours

This is a special breed of chicken from Indonesia called Ayam Cemani. They are completely black.

On the other hand these ravens are bronze coloured contrary to normal ravens’ colouring.
