For years, practically all my life, I’ve been watching my diet. Yes, I had my share of sweets and other unhealthy stuff but not to excess.
And then: Wham! I’m diagnosed with diabetes. And now I’m not allowed cakes and other sweet bakings and bonbons and decent chocolates anymore.
It’s a medical injustice!!

Contrary to what my weight suggests it’s not so much the food that comforts me as the company while preparing and eating.
This was our grandson’s attempt at baking with a train cake mould and then decorating it with prepacked food colouring, blue sprinkles, pine nuts and peppermint sweets.
It might not reach the highest standard of confectionery baking – but, hey! we liked it!

No, don’t worry: S.H.I.T.S. is an acronym and stands for “Saturday Hash in the Summer“.
No, you really don’t have to worry: Hash has nothing to do with smoking. Or cookies, for that matter.
It’s short for a worldwide social running club, the Hash House Harriers. A foot (or feet) is its logo. Runners follow a trail marked in chalk or flour and when they find the right way to run they shout “on on“.
