Circles in the sand

One might call it: The sharks are circling! It was of course merely a conga line beach tournament but the competition was surprisingly ferocious. There was an umpire who oversaw the suitability of the soundtracks used (diddly-diddly dum-dum) and the proper placement of the towels (one inch above the hip bone). Four groups of twenty-one dancers each had reached the finals. The coveted prize for which they were competing was a luxury bus tour to False Bay in South Africa to watch real sharks circling.

Dog Over Lollipop

„Under dog lies lollipop.“ Borys had never unlearned his heavy Russian accent which came with its own grammatical challenges. “It make good picture for decorate house,” he added.  He took out his old Zorki, focussed manually and took the photograph just in time before the dog ran away. He had it developed and sold it to an art gallery in a hexagonal frame for good money.

He had this little verse, just for situations like this. He whispered it in the mirror with pouted lips and heavy lidded bedroom eyes. In an instant he switched his personality.

The tower was surrounded by a moat allowing access only via a hopelessly overdrawn drawbridge. “Champagne! ” hollered the guard dangling off the railing inside the wrong side of the gate. He had just revived his suspended diploma!

Escape and all that jazz

Louis was an octogenarian, imprisoned by his children in a bargain clinic. Escape was going to be difficult. It was in the middle in a swamp. They had even taken away his belt. But Louis was resourceful. He took some spaghetti noodles and threaded them through the slings making a decent pair of dungarees. He’d pass as a janitor. The break-out was on!
