I’m Tired of This

When I saw the prompt encephalopathy I started to look for brains in my archive hoping for a mushroom that looked like one or maybe a poster or mural. Then I read the rest of the description and saw the added myalgic.

Myalgic encephalopathy – aka: chronic fatigue. I don’t know anyone with that affliction, I thought — and then: Stop! Of course, I do know somebody who suffers from that. I actually live with somebody who sleeps most of the day, anytime, anywhere. Meet Henry – who is lucky enough that for him it is considered normal what in others is considered an illness.

The Ragtag Daily Prompt: Encephalopathy

High Jinx

Sometimes when I can’t think of a photo to use right away I go to various dicitonaries and try to find alternative meanings. In this case, I immediately thought of “high jinx” but I just couldn’t bring myself to post photos of friends when they were up to some. You know, privacy and all that.

Then I came upon the definition of “high Jinx” in the Urban Dictionary and – voilà:

high jinx = The act of simply getting your feline friend completely stoned. from Urban Dictionary

PS: No cats were harmed during the taking of this photo. He is called Louis and participated voluntarily in the shoot. He is alive and well and living in Newcastle, UK.

The Ragtag Daily Prompt: Jinx

Treating myself and others

It’s still dark outside but this early morning treat gets me going. For years I couldn’t drink coffee without the most severe heartburn, now that I can drink it again without problems, I consider it special.

Henry gets special treats occasionally and he likes it just as much as the next cat. He wears his feelings on the cheek, so to speak.

And is it too early to talk of Easter? [Yes, it is! even if the stores think otherwise.]

These are chocolate treats and not really special in Germany. Around Easter time they are rather commonplace. What makes them unusual are their looks: they represent cockchafer beetles, heralds of spring, and not, as horrified English visitors have remarked, cockroaches.

Finally, only yesterday Nancy had asked for tasty treats for her A Photo a Week Challenge (great minds think alike! – check out her site and the contributions) and I posted this photo:

Friendly Friday: Special Treats.
