I witnessed this air rescue helicopter in action in Munich earlier this year.  There had been accident involving a cyclist and a car.  I did not take photos of the emergency doctor and paramedics treating the badly injured cyclist, actually we left the scene as soon as the helicopter had landed. But … there were real people working inside.

For Cee’s Black & White Photo Challenge with the topic of men at work.  More working women and men can be found here.

Cropped

Kalter Herrgott

This wayside shrine is called Kalter Herrgott (Cold Lord).  It is found near the village of Ritschweier in the Odenwald, Germany, on the brow of a hill where cold winds blow.

even though it is still hot.

With the wind blowing over the stubbles, autumn isn’t far away anymore:

Wenn der Wind über die Stoppelfelder weht, ist der Herbst nicht mehr fern.

Cee’s Black & White Photo Challenge had an open topic this week.  Mine was After the Harvest.

Elwetritsche

This fun fountain in Neustadt an der Weinstraße in Germany sports a large variety of Elwetritsche – mythical creatures, supposedly bred from ducks, geese, chicken and woodland imps and gnomes.  The artist responsible is Gernot Rumpf.  More about Elwetritsche can be found on wikipedia.  I’ve posted pictures of their young ones before.

Cee’s Black &  White Photo Challenge is asking for fountains this week. For more wet photos click on the badge:

Saint Florian is the patron saint of fire fighters.  One often hears the above saying following his name, literally translated it means:

Spare my house, burn down another one.

Sankt Florian

This statue of the saint, appropriately placed in a fountain, stands across the old fire station in Munich.

This old marker used to stand in front of the fire station no. 2 in Frankfurt:

The theme for Cee’s Black & White Photo Challenge this week is birds.  I’ve decided to go with selective colour although in the last picture of the Canada goose it was difficult to find any colour in the animal itself.

Here are more monochrome photos of birds.
