The most graceful arch I could come up with.

It’s not the most impressive monument or building but the bridge dates back to the Romans and it had some strategic value to them as even small rivers and rivulets have to be crossed if an army is on the move.

Let’s get the bad ones out of the way first.

There is no denying that both signs are racist. In fact the tobacco shop’s sign is so breathtakingly offensive that I am amazed that it is still openly displayed. The “Big Mama” sign however, is a bit tricky since it is a shop run by Africans, selling African products to Africans (particularly food and beauty care). Is it less racist because it is a name and picture chosen by a member of the racially depicted group?
Quickly add an example which is lot more politically correct but more importantly morally correct:

A sign for a fair trade shop. They used to be called “Third World Shops” (Dritte-Welt-Läden).
And now for something completely different: animals on shop signs for a café and a dog grooming salon:

I also like this sign on a (cheap) hotel:

But there should always be this:

Trains and trams have priority at this pedestrian crossing – a German traffic sign. I wish it were true for traffic policy as well. Less cars, more trains!

A quite nostalgic looking section of the Odenwald Bahn which curves through our backyard (literally, in my sister’s case).

This is the half-way station of the Heidelberg funicular railway which leads up to the hill called Königstuhl on the slopes of which the ruin of the Heidelberg castle is situated. It has been in operation since 1890 and has seen many modernisations throughout the years. In 1910 the upper section was added.
It’s difficult to see as there is dense woods on both sides. I should try to get there in winter next time!

What a lovely place to sit in the garden (until the cherries ripen and they start dropping down and leaving stains).

You don’t have to sit on a bench, you know.

And some benches I don’t want to sit on (btw that’s a bench on an autobahn rest area, i.e. the large garbage can is necessary, I guess).

And last not least a dedicated bench for pensioners who need a rest during shopping.

In German, kurz means short. It is also a fairly common family name.

Ducks have fairly short legs.

Which normally doesn’t inconvenience them much.

For other species it can create an advantage or an obstacle, depending on the terrain and intention.
