Functional ears are a necessary requirement.
The bigger the ears the better?
Ears are necessary for hearing. But listening needs more (and I don’t mean a funny hat 😀 )

The value of touch. We took it for granted only a couple of months ago.

Sehen (seeing in German) was printed the wrong way round on the stairs in a school for children with speech problems. The cat observed me from her hiding place amongst some greenery. And the rest – are eyes, from a light installation (mirrored in a lake), from colourful garden ornaments, and from a stark and simple attempt at graffiti. And I almost forgot: from a cooky monster hiding in my bed.

Wherever the sign of coffee beckons … I particularly like the combination of beverages on the green sign: craft beer and coffee, all handmade.

A bus in Wiesbaden, powered by ecologically produced electricity.

The bus of the South African rugby team during the Word Cup 2015.

A bus rushing off from the Christmas market near the water tower in Mannheim.

And finally a photo from my cell phone, taken from a train model set.

Covered bridges are not common in Germany. This one is in Ketsch, it crosses to an island formed by the river canalisation in the 19th century, a nature reserve. It was built in the 1990s.

And I think there was some hand touching in the picture.

It’s a question of perspective: the stork looks down and I look up to him.

And it even looks down on tall towers, water towers, and

church spires, and

artisans’ trees.

Or real trees.

Looking up, it’s more than one bird,

yet the single one stands out

even as it settles down.

The traditional drink in Frankfurt and the surrounding State of Hesse is wine made of apples. I don’t really like to call it cider because English cider and French cidre are quite different. For one thing, the German version is sour, really very sour.

Traditionally, this kind of cider, called Äppler or Äppelwoi, is served in such ribbed glasses. The ribbing is supposed to prevent the glass from slipping when one eats greasy food at the same time.

That makes a case for beer, although in some Äppelwoi pubs it will not be served.

If it is drawn that badly and with so much foam, maybe a glass of Äppler is more inviting, after all.
