It’s all about the light and the colours in autumn.
Green and grey and hazy.
Orange and yellow and clear.
Brown and red and dusky.
Green and yellow and bright.
And the final photo from yesterday – taken from a car driving on the autobahn (I wasn’t the one on the steering wheel, of course).
When we see the clouds rolling in,
when we see the rain coming near,
then we get ready for the big downpour:
Aesculus hippocastanum, that is, the common horse chestnuts.
Most chestnuts are still up in the trees, in their light-green prickly shell but some have already fallen and the smooth, auburn coloured chestnuts are lying on the ground. One of my favourite signs that autumn is here.
