If the happy, beguiling, little pig doesn’t convince you then maybe the reminder that the meat is “freshly butchered” or in a more literal translation: freshly slaughtered.
I’ve shown this butchery sign before which is not surprising since I can see it on every stroll around our neighbourhood.

This sculpture by Tomi Ungerer, called either Aqueduct of Janus or Janus fountain (l’Aqueduc de Janus or Fontaine de Janus), signifies the double culture of Strasbourg, shaped by France and Germany in equal measure. It features a double sided Janus head looking in two directions, west and east.

today, all that is in a little thing that fits in my back pocket.

Imagine: It’s been spring for a while, quite balmy weather, and all of a sudden one night the temperature drops. You drive to the bakery, everything seems normal except that it is colder than the days before, and then you come across this:
This is an espalier fruit (apple trees) field. The plants, the blooms are covered in ice. On the ground lies frost. But it ends abruptly at the fence and the flowering bushes around are frost free.
Turns out this is an ingenious way to use irrigation. Ice, it turns out, protects the blooms and hence the possibility of them developing into fruit.
Ice covers the twigs, the blooms, the new leaves.
