The Nibelungensteig is a walking track cutting through the Odenwald for 130 km following the legend of the Nibelungen. In 15 places there are sculptures by Jens Nettlich depicting parts of the story. This is near the castle ruin of Lindenfels – almost the beginning of the story. Siegfried, the blonde hero, has forged his sword Balmung and kills the dragon Fafnir with it.

On first glance this is just a hand with the thumb and the forefinger sticking out. Psychology comes in when you start interpreting the image: Does it symbolise a gun? Does it show an L as in loser? Or is it just a hand?
A selfie is by definition egocentric even if is a not a planned one. And confusion? There is more than enough here in that one, besides the composition of the photo itself, the weird sign in two languages (both with not quite accurate grammar or at least a weird way of putting it). At the airfield festival the radio announcers from the local radio station came to do the announcements and introductions and they also provided running commentary throughout the day. They also did a few direct links to the radio station.
For them it probably was a simple set-up – for me it’s a closed book, or rather a closed box with cables and circuit boards and – stuff.
