On the Road

I’m used to seeing vintage cars, particularly really old ones like this one, at museums or possibly car shows, so I was startled when I saw this one nonchalantly pulling up at a petrol station and being filled up with normal petrol or possibly diesel. BTW: The H, the last letter on the car license plate, stands for “historic” and is reserved for vintage cars (provided they are maintained more or less like the original ) and it has advantages regarding insurance and tax purposes and I also think exemptions regarding emissions.

A Giant Curl

A typical fern, you might think. A close-up or even a macro, you might think.

It’s not so, this is an angiopteris pruinosa bootfarn – and this is not a macro. Unfortunately I couldn’t use anything for a scale in the greenhouse of the botanical garden but this farn curl about to be unfurled is as big as plate.

I’m Fed up

In German, if you say “I’m smelling something” as on the sign it means: I had enough of it.

This sign on the “Flowering Bergstraße”, a walk along the slope of the Odenwald starting about 20km north of Heidelberg and stopping just before. The QR codes on the signs tell interesting facts about this area with a rich history. This particular sign tells about the hazards of dog droppings which spoil the grown fruit crops (grapes, berries, espalier fruit) and they do – of course, smell.
