Four years ago we were in the UK for the Rugby World Cup. After the match between South Africa vs Scotland we were making our way from Newcastle to Edinburgh and stopping for a look see on Holy Island. Now I am sitting at my desk and my husband is watching the Ireland vs Scotland game on the other pc – Japan is just a little too far (and a little too expensive).

And so we turned our backs on Britain when we visited. The weather was just too gorgeous.

This gilded tribute to the three men who made Birmingham great, – referred to alternatively as The Carpet Salesmen or The Three Wise Men – is the city’s thank you to James Watt, William Murdoch and Matthew Boulton. They certainly used a lot of gold.
