A Giant Curl

A typical fern, you might think. A close-up or even a macro, you might think.

It’s not so, this is an angiopteris pruinosa bootfarn – and this is not a macro. Unfortunately I couldn’t use anything for a scale in the greenhouse of the botanical garden but this farn curl about to be unfurled is as big as plate.

Vegan or not Vegan?

Sometimes known as Lady’s slipper vine this Thunbergia mysorensis (yes, just like Greta) is a native of Southern India (not like Greta). I thought it might be an insect-eating plant but the ants (which I only noticed on the computer screen at home) have a different opinion.
