I’m a Fan of … #99.
A few months ago I got this parcel in the mail, wrapped in pages of an old calendar, no sender. It had this craft set of stacking or nesting dolls in it: the Gruffalo, the fox, the owl, the snake and the mouse.
I finally managed to paint the wooden calipers or boxes once I found out who had sent me the gift. They came from a friend from the UK who knew that I was a fan of the children’s book. I’m a fan of the Gruffalo.

As soon as there is a little snow (we are not that blessed with the white stuff in our region) the sleds come out
and we head to the slopes.
The challenge is to find a hill with an accessible slope and an acceptable incline.
And then the fun can begin.
It’s not a new past time – they show sleds in museums. And in some areas it’s not allowed, not even in summer.
And because of numerous a single request:
Thanks to COVID there’ll be no carnival celebrations this year, at least not as we know it.
So I am reminiscing a bit with photos from years gone by.

I don’t think these cut outs have a special name. They can be found near schools to warn cars to go slow. I was reminded of the ones in my archives when I saw the kid buried almost completely in snow last week.

Out on my bike I came across a strawberry field in the most amazing autumn colours. It made me remember spring and summer.

Crests often feature crowns
and so do restaurants in their signs.
Some wear crowns better than others but these all wear theirs perfectly.
A crowning achievement.
