A thimble of light

This is not my best photo. It was taken last week, on a bicycle tour, in a dark stretch of wood, on an extremely steep road. So steep in fact, that I had to stop and push rather than pedal. When I had to stop completely to catch my breath it was very quiet and very dark and then I saw this foxglove a little ahead of me. My exhaustion is partly to blame for the anything but perfect shot but at the time, this single flower was light to me. And the title? Foxglove is called Fingerhut (thimble) in German.

Light makes photography. Embrace light. Admire it. Love it. But above all, know light. Know it for all you are worth”

Rocketlights

Yippeh!  It’s the New Year!  And Squares are back in style! Hurrah!

Although I did not indulge in a private fireworks display (haven’t done so in years – there are many reasons for not doing it but my turning point came when we spent a New Year’s Eve in a holiday resort in Germany and  we saw the disgusting amount of rubbish on the streets the next morning) how else could one start day 1 of a month long theme of lightRocketlights (I warned you, I’m German, I know how to do compound nouns!) rushing towards the New Year!  And in case you haven’t noticed: It’s a tie-in with the last square challenge of squares & lines.
